Silhouettes of Family past and present &
Various projects.
 |
Members of the Hall family, past and present. Much to my regret, I did not take silhouette photographs of family members before they passed away (6 in all). The process starts by taking a right angle profile photograph of the subject's head and neck against a light background, crucial is photographing the subject at a right angle as one of the most distinguishing features in producing a recognisable silhouette, is the shape of the person's nose. The next step in the process is to trace an outline of the profile, I do this using a computer graphics package and print out the pattern. The pattern is then adhered to a plywood square and the outline cut on a fretsaw, sprayed matt black and glued to a plywood backing ready for framing.
